MOG
Metabolic · Optimal · Glow — Branding & Packaging Design
Kyle, Katy & Ron — really great catching up, and glad we're moving on this together. What we're building with MOG has real potential, and the right design system can do a lot of heavy lifting for us going into your fundraising conversations.
Below are three ways to get from where we are now to a finished, pitch-ready product lineup. Pick the approach that fits where you are with cash flow and how fast we need to move. One thing worth making clear before the numbers: what we're building here isn't just a logo, and it isn't just a can design. It's a full system — wordmark, color palette, typography, label architecture, legal panel, flavor variants — and each of those is a separate deliverable. They're called out individually below so you can see exactly what you're getting.
Recommended
Option A
Phased Milestones
$6,000 to investor-ready
Option B
Monthly Retainer
$2,200 / month
Option C
Creative Block
$3,000 per block
Phased Milestones
We work through defined phases, each with a clear deliverable and a clear price. You approve and pay before we move to the next phase. No surprises, full control.
$6,000
Phases 1 & 1B combined
to a four-SKU investor-ready lineup
What this gets you
A complete, production-ready design system for four can SKUs. Wordmark, logo, color palette, typography, full label architecture front and back, legal panel, flavor color system, and print-spec files ready to hand to a printer or drop into your pitch deck. This is the fastest path to investor-ready materials.
Phase 1
Discovery & Single SKU Design
Kickoff session, creative brief, three design directions, one refined to production-ready
$3,500
flat fee
25% deposit to begin
Deliverables
- Kickoff session & signed creative brief
- Brand direction and positioning review
- Wordmark / logo — 3 concepts
- Color palette — selected and documented
- Typography — selected and documented
- Can label, front panel — 3 directions
- Full label — front, back, legal panel (1 approved direction)
- UPC and ingredient placeholder areas set
- Print-spec files, production-ready
- Printer consultation on gradient feasibility
Terms
- 25% deposit ($875) on signing
- Balance invoiced at start of following month
- 3-week delivery from cleared deposit
- 2 rounds of revisions included
- Additional revisions scoped & quoted separately
- No design begins before brief is signed
The kickoff session is a short Teams call where we lock down the creative brief together. This protects everyone — if the brief says "clean and minimal," that's what we build, and that's what any revision gets measured against. It keeps us aligned and prevents costly changes down the road.
Phase 1B
SKU Family Expansion
Approved Phase 1 direction applied consistently across all four flavors
$2,500
flat fee
Triggered when Phase 1 is approved
Deliverables
- Flavors 2, 3, and 4 label designs
- Full label per SKU: front, back, legal panel
- Consistent flavor color and icon system across all four
- Production-ready print files, all 4 SKUs
- Consolidated asset package for printer
Terms
- 25% deposit ($625) when Phase 1 is approved
- Balance invoiced at start of following month
- 2-week delivery from deposit
- 1 round of revisions per SKU included
This is the four-can lineup that goes in your pitch deck and investor materials. A consistent, production-ready family of four tells a much stronger story than a single can mockup.
Phase 2 — Post-Fundraising
Full Brand System
Logo system, brand standards document, secondary packaging, social templates
Scoped after 1B
flat fee or retainer, your choice
Phase 2 is the full brand architecture that scales post-launch. Shown here so you can see the full runway — no commitment needed now. We scope it together when fundraising lands.
Phases 1 & 1B Combined
4-SKU investor-ready lineup, all production files
$6,000 total to pitch-ready
Why this works well
- Fastest path to investor-ready materials
- Defined deliverables at every stage
- You control spend by controlling phase approval
- No ongoing monthly commitment
- Lowest total cost to four-SKU lineup
Worth knowing
- Requires timely feedback to hit the 6-week timeline
- Scope changes between phases need re-quoting
Monthly Creative Retainer
A set amount of creative work reserved every month. Predictable spend, steady pace, same structure that worked with San Juan Seltzer for years.
$2,200/mo
4-month minimum
$8,800 total commitment
What this gets you
Up to 20 hours of dedicated creative work per month, applied across the same deliverables as Option A but spread over four months. Same end result — four-SKU investor-ready lineup plus brand system foundations — with a lower monthly outlay and a longer runway to get there.
How the months break down
- Month 1 — Kickoff, creative brief, logo and brand directions, single SKU label designs
- Month 2 — Refinement of approved direction, full label production files, SKU family expansion begins
- Month 3 — SKU family complete, brand guidelines started, secondary packaging begins
- Month 4 — Brand system finalized, social templates, full asset package delivered
Terms
- 25% of Month 1 ($550) invoiced on signing
- Balance and all subsequent months invoiced at month start, net 15
- 4-month minimum, month-to-month after that
- Unused hours expire monthly, no rollover
- Work beyond monthly hours scoped separately
- Stock options welcome as a bonus, not a substitute for fees
This is the model that worked well with San Juan Seltzer. Consistent creative bandwidth every month means work moves in a steady rhythm instead of sprint-and-stall cycles. The tradeoff is time — the four-SKU lineup takes 8 to 10 weeks here versus 5 to 6 with Option A. If your fundraising timeline has flexibility, this is the most comfortable spend structure.
Why this works well
- Lower monthly outlay than a lump payment
- Covers more deliverables over the term (brand system included)
- Flexible ongoing relationship after the 4-month term
- Proven structure from our SJS work together
Worth knowing
- Slower to investor-ready than Option A (8-10 weeks vs 5-6)
- Higher total spend ($8,800 vs $6,000 for same pitch-ready result)
- Requires a 4-month commitment up front
Creative Block
Buy one defined block of work at a time. Each block has a clear list of what it covers. No monthly commitment, no minimum term. Start now, pause when you need to.
$3,000
per block, purchased upfront
each block = defined scope of work
What "a block" means
A block is a pre-defined package of creative work with a fixed price and a fixed list of deliverables. You buy one block, we deliver everything in that block, and then you decide whether and when to buy the next one. Think of it like chapters in a book — each one stands on its own, and each one builds on the last.
Block 1
Foundation & First Can Design
Everything needed to establish the brand direction and design the first SKU
$3,000
flat fee
25% deposit to begin
What Block 1 covers
- Kickoff session & signed creative brief
- Wordmark / logo — 3 concepts
- Color palette and typography selection
- Can label, front panel — 3 design directions
- First-round refinement of chosen direction
- Printer consultation on print process
Terms
- 25% deposit ($750) on signing
- Balance invoiced at start of following month
- 3-week delivery from cleared deposit
- 1 round of revisions included
- Additional revisions scoped separately
Block 2 — Purchased separately after Block 1
Production Finish & SKU Expansion
Takes the approved Block 1 direction to production-ready and applies it across all four flavors
~$2,500
estimated, scoped after Block 1
What Block 2 covers
- Full label: front, back, legal panel (1 SKU)
- Flavors 2, 3, and 4 label designs
- Consistent flavor color and icon system
- Production-ready print files, all 4 SKUs
- Printer-ready asset package
Terms
- Scoped and quoted after Block 1 delivery
- 25% deposit to begin Block 2
- Balance invoiced at month start
- 2-week delivery from deposit
Blocks beyond these two (brand system, social templates, pitch deck graphics) are scoped individually as needed. Each block is defined in writing before it begins, so there are never any surprises about what a block includes or costs.
Why this works well
- No monthly commitment or minimum term
- Full control over spend and timing
- Good if cash flow timing is unpredictable
- Each block stands on its own
Worth knowing
- Stopping between blocks creates momentum gaps
- Harder to hit a tight fundraising deadline
- Block 1 alone won't get you to investor-ready — you'll need Block 2 as well
- Slightly higher per-deliverable cost than Option A
